Premium IOL Implantation After LVC
At the MEACO-MIOC Congress 2023, Dr Kermani will present clinical results of patients who opted for IOL implantation after laser treatment. The additional implantation of a lens can help to make fine corrections and achieve optimal vision. At the same time, Dr Kermani points out the challenges of this treatment. For example, common biometric formulas are often not adapted to eyes that have already been implanted and the options for possible follow-up treatments, such as correcting the cornea, are limited.PDF Download
The 1x1 of refractive cataract surgery
At the Artemis Symposium in Frankfurt, Dr. Kermani presents refractive cataract surgery as a realistic and optimistic option for individual vision correction. The 1x1 is the guideline for patient treatment, which, taking into account the preliminary examination, combines the individual medical history and expectations with the refractive surgical options in a realistic but always optimistic way. The effects of Fs-laser lentotomy on accommodation amplitude and presbyopic lens clarity
At AAO 2022, Dr. Kermani and several co-authors will present the developments in visual acuity of patients who had age-related visual deterioration treated by femtosecond laser. The study of 35 patients (58 eyes) showed that accommodation ability improved greatly with the targeted placement of radial decompression areas, as did near vision. PDF Download
Refractive lens exchange for non-presbyopic hyperopia (The non-age-related farsightedness).
In this presentation, a number of patient cases will be presented that demonstrate complications and accompanying symptoms of weaker and more severe hyperopia. It will be stated that lens exchange can improve progressive hyperopia in the long term. Thus, the question is not if, but when lens exchange will occur. PDF Download
Complications and treatment
At DOC 2022, Dr. Kermani will present several patient cases who presented to the Neumarkt Eye Clinic for a second opinion after complications from initial treatment. PDF Download
Monovision
In this lecture the different methods to achieve monovision will be discussed (e.g. corneal inlays, ICL or refractive lens exchange). Monovision is a vision correction procedure in which one eye is optimized for near vision and one eye is optimized for distance vision. This is particularly suitable for patients with variable visual requirements. PDF Download
Specialist training in Germany and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic
The Corona pandemic has resulted in fewer patients being treated by ophthalmologists and ophthalmic surgeons in the conservative field due to sick leave and a reduction in appointments. The pandemic has hit surgical training particularly hard, as at times only emergency care has been provided in this area. As a result, the quality of medical education for young ophthalmologists in Germany has suffered from the Corona Pandemic. PDF Download
SEO 2022
This presentation will address the challenges that IOL technology and surgical patient assessment currently face and will face in the future. Scientific progress and the continuous improvement of technical possibilities on the one hand and the steady increase of patient numbers and disease. PDF Download
Refractive Surgery in Children
This presentation Adressen the question to what extent refractive surgery can improve vision problems already in childhood and prevent progression in old age. Since there are currently no data for the treatment of children, the results of treatments of young adults could validate the treatment of children in individual cases. PDF Download
Add-On Presbyopia Correcting IOLs
Additive, functional ulcer IOLs provide a safe and effective option for use in refractive cataract surgery. They have a special angled design and can be monofocal, multifocal or toxic. Their main advantage is reversibility! PDF Download

The Trans-PRK - A Diary
Transepithelial PRK is an excimer laser-guided method of vision correction that is also suitable for patients with particularly thin corneas. In this video, a patient shares her experience in a video diary.
Field report OP cataract with multifocal lens
Nicole L. had her endogenous lens replaced with a multifocal lens due to cataracts. Before, she only saw 40% - now she can see 100% again.
The Vivity EDOF Premium Intraocular Lens
The Vivity extended-vision intraocular lens enables our patients to live a largely spectacle-free life. Wavefront technology creates high-contrast and largely interference-free vision in all light conditions.
Acunex Vario EDOF intraocular lens in refractive cataract surgery
In this video, Dr. Kermani talks about the Acunex Vario EDOF intraocular lens refractive vision correction procedure he performed on his brother, which allows him to see without glasses.
